DRAMAtical Murder Wiki

Brain Crash Theater DRAMAtical Murder is a stage play adaptation of the original DRAMAtical Murder visual novel. It was played at the Stella Ball concert hall of the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, from December 20 to December 29, 2019. It was written by Hiroki Uchiida, based on original screenplay from Fuchii Kabura, and directed by Norihito Nakayashi.

A new showing of the stage play titled Brain Crash Theater DRAMAtical Murder Flashback also went live in the same venue from April 28 to May 07, 2023. It featured a slightly different cast from the original showing, along with a new stage route for Virus & Trip.

Information and Performance Schedule[]

The stage play followed the story of the original game very closely. The opening theme of the play was SHUNKANTEKI POLYPHONY and the ending theme was AI CATCH, both performed by GOATBED. In the last day of the stage play, GOATBED performed both songs live on the venue. In the "Flashback" rerun of the play, MASCULINE DEVIL, also performed by GOATBED, was the ending theme exclusively for the Virus & Trip route.

During the original run of the play, Koujaku, Noiz, Mink, Clear and Ren routes would be performed at the concert hall, each in separate days. In the "Flashback" rerun, a Virus&Trip route was also performed. The schedules for both versions goes as follows:

Trivia[]

  • Many members of the original staff and voice cast from the game attended the play in various occasions, most notably Atsushi Kisaichi[1], Masatomo Nakazawa [2], Kenji Takahashi [3], Ryota Takeuchi[4], GOATBED members Shuji and Yuuji Ishii and Hironobo Hirata[5].
  • Other characters from the game that were not able to have performers on stage, like Tae and Toue were represented by art and voice clips from the original game. Secondary characters were played by the backup dancers.
  • Both writter Hiroki Uchiida and director Norihito Nakayashi would later also write and direct the stage play adaptation of another Nitro Chiral property, sweet pool.
  • Although Seiichiro Nagata was planned to reprise his role during the "Flashback" run, he got suddenly ill during practice days and had to step down from the role. Naotake Tsuchiya played Aoba during this run, but marketing material and merchandise sold for the play still had Seiichiro as Aoba on it.
